upgrade to Mediawiki 1.17.0

Just upgraded from MediaWiki 1.16.0 to 1.17.0

• the ResourceLoader seems interesting

recent changes - layout broken

Done, could be fixed with 2 changes:

• update TransformChanges (Version 1.1.5, 2009-03-24) to: Version 2.0.4, 2011-07-03
• change in the MediaWiki:Common.css, see here

calendar layout broken (on main page of Blog)

• only the border was grey, now all the calendar has a grey background
• I'm using the newest version of wikicalendar (Version 1.16) already

my gender got lost

Done by restoring in Special:Preferences

input methods for Usage Statistics decreased

for the Extension:Usage Statistics the popups (when clicking on Select) do not open

• at Special:UserStats
• what did not help:
  • upgrading extension (v1.11.4 -> v1.12.0)
  • upgrading: MediaWiki:Common.css and MediaWiki:Common.js

Semantic MediaWiki

• Semantic MediaWiki: from 1.5e-SVN to: 1.6
  • update all extensions for SMW, otherwise you'll get parser errors
  • in my case I had to update: Semantic Forms from 1.5.3 to 2.2.1 Done

Wikilog + toc magic + strike

• after using TOC magicword in a blog post, layout of my blog main page got weird (see pic):
  the content of the sidebar got into the right part (sidebar place empty)
  • removing toc or noinclude'ing it helps Done
  • this is a known bug in Wikilog
• also the tag for striking causes this behaviour :-(

Wikilog + talk pages

After about 2 weeks I got this error for some talk pages of the blog:

Fatal error: Call to a member function registerWatcher() on a non-object in .../wiki/includes/parser/Parser.php on line 191

• see bug report
  • I think I did not see this error after installing, Google reported this about 2 days ago as "Soft 404s" error
• the problem with the info so far is: people are not able to comment :-(

Done by removing 4 lines in WikilogCommentPager.php, see here

references do not show up

• most of the times the references tags added by the extension Cite do not show up
  • todo: find more pages...
    • where it doesn't show: Blog:Observations/blog post frequency (2007-2011), Erhu
    • where it shows: Blog:Observations/the seven great singing stars - an analysis, Research on OS, Information about domain skilledtests.com, Search engine results
  • used version: svn-date: 2008-10-30 16:12:17 svn-revision: 42818

remarks (may not be because of MW)

• Conway's Game of Life still broken (since October 2010) <- have to find out later why
